Richard Greene, has analyzed researched and written about state and local government for over thirty years in collaboration with his wife and partner, Katherine Barrett.  He is a executive advisor for the American Society for Public Administration, a visiting fellow at the IBM Center for the Business of Government; contributor to Governing Magazine, editor and administrator of the website “dedicated to state and local government” at greenebarrett.com; advisor to the Government Finance Officers Association; columnist for Government Finance Review; commentary editor for the International Journal of Public Administrators and senior advisor to the Government Finance Research Center at the University of Illinois, Chicago. He is also a fellow at the National Academy of Public Administration. His latest book, written in collaboration with Katherine Barrett and Don Kettl,  The Little Guide to Writing for Impact was published in 2024.
