Why did you want to become a CPFO?

I wanted to expand my financial knowledge in public finance. As I began my career journey as a Controller, I recognized that the CPFO was an essential credential. After researching the program, I realized that obtaining the CPFO designation would be a crucial step toward succeeding in my role.

What did you learn going through the process?

I learned that governmental accounting goes far beyond general accounting. It is a more structured, regulated, and complex system that requires a deeper understanding of processes, compliance, and financial reporting.

How has becoming a CPFO made an impact on you in your profession or how do you hope it will make an impact?

Becoming a CPFO has given me greater confidence in my role. The knowledge I gained through the program has significantly enhanced my understanding of how governments operate financially, and it has strengthened my ability to contribute at a higher level as a Controller.
