Dell Duckworth

Assistant Finance Director, Village of Winnetka, Illinois

Dell has contributed to the Village of Winnetka’s finance team since 2016, drawing on her earlier experience as a supervising senior auditor in the private sector specializing in local government accounting and auditing. Now as assistant finance director, she plays an important role in audit management, budget preparation, and process improvement. Dell supported the Village’s first Popular Annual Financial Report submission, which received GFOA recognition in its first year, and worked with her team to streamline payroll and automate parts of the budgeting process, saving staff time. She also volunteers with the Illinois Government Finance Officers Association, where she was president of the Chicago Metro Chapter, later joined the Executive Board, and is now part of the founding DEI Task Force. Dell enjoys supporting newer professionals and colleagues through mentorship and has continued to build connections across the profession. “Her positive spirit elevates the mood of the entire Village Hall,” CFO Tim Sloth shared, noting her reputation for outstanding customer service and wide professional network.
