Grace Martinez currently serves on GFOA’s Executive Board and as chair of the Executive Board's Finance Committee. In her current role as director of financial reporting and operational accounting at the Metropolitan Transportation Commission, Grace oversees key functions such as financial reporting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, grants accounting, and cost allocation. Her previous leadership includes serving as acting CFO and deputy CFO at the San Mateo County Transit District, and deputy finance director at the City of San Jose. With over thirty-five years of experience in both public and private finance, Grace is known for improving systems, leading high-performing teams, and delivering financial stability.

With a background in special districts, transportation, and planning commissions, Grace aims to elevate the voice of all GFOA members while encouraging representation for similar jurisdictions. Her goals include strengthening board governance, expanding outreach, and equipping members with the tools they need to promote strong financial management in their communities.

Her prior GFOA service includes roles on GFOA's GAAFR Review Committee (2021-2022), Nominating Committee (2018–2021), and Accounting, Auditing, and Financial Reporting Committee (2017-2022). She was a presenter at GFOA’s 2019 Annual Conference on capital assets. Grace is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of CPAs, and serves on the board of a nonprofit charitable organization in Silicon Valley.
