As part of GFOA’s Rethinking Financial Reporting work, we are developing a new model to help governments scientifically determine appropriate capitalization thresholds. This could allow governments to stop tracking hundreds of assets for accounting purposes while barely changing the total reported value. We need more real-world data to ensure this tool works for everyone.
