The Director of Finance is a member of the New Hampshire Retirement System (NHRS, “the System”) Executive Team and reports to the Executive Director. This is a high-level executive position responsible for all the activities of the finance department. The Director of Finance makes recommendations to the Executive Director and the Board of Trustees, and implements approved polices and strategies.
The Director of Finance leads a team responsible for accounting and cash management, which includes investment accounting, general ledger accounting, budget, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash receipts and other financial functions.
The Director also serves as liaison with the NHRS’ consulting actuary and external auditor. This position provides expert advice to the Executive Director and Board of Trustees on financial reporting and the budget. The Director of Finance participates in the strategic planning and organizational development process and in the formulation of NHRS' organizational mission, objectives, and strategies.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree, from an accredited college or university, in accounting, finance or business. Master’s degree preferred. Designation as CPA is required. A minimum of ten years of relevant management experience in an accounting/finance role, preferably with a public pension plan or financial services, and a minimum five years of experience in a senior leadership position are required. Direct experience with institutional investing, working with actuaries and the legislative process is preferred.
