Finance Manager
The City of Menifee's Finance Department is searching for professional candidates who are detail oriented and organized, with a positive attitude and helpful disposition. Excellent leadership skills, communication skills, problem-solving skills, and the ability to utilize sound judgment, discretion and confidentiality. This open position requires a high-level of initiative with exceptional customer service to both internal and external stakeholders.
THE POSITION
Under general direction, plans, organizes, oversees, coordinates, and reviews the work of staff performing difficult and complex professional, technical, and administrative support related to the processing of financial transactions and preparing and reconciling financial and accounting records and reports; performs professional accounting work to ensure regulatory compliance with governmental accounting standards; maintains and improves the City’s accounting system; administers current and long-term planning activities; monitors department budgets; manages the effective use of assigned resources to improve organizational productivity and customer service; coordinates assigned activities with other City departments, officials, outside agencies, and the public; fosters cooperative working relationships among City departments and with intergovernmental and regulatory agencies; provides highly responsible and complex professional assistance to the Deputy Finance Director and Chief Financial Officer in areas of expertise; and performs related work as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in finance, accounting, business or public administration, or a closely related field and six (6) years of professional accounting experience including three (3) years of full-scope supervisory responsibility.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California Driver’s License by time of appointment.
- Possession of, and ability to maintain a valid Certified Public Accountant’s License (CPA) is highly desirable.
- Active membership in Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) and California Society of Municipal Finance Officers (CSMFO) Association is highly desirable.
