With its family-focused community and small-town feel, Fair Oaks Ranch is a charming place to call home. The City has 11,113 residents in 12.3 square miles, but it is close to big city amenities. IH-10, Loop 1604, and HWY 46 can be accessed from Fair Oaks Ranch for a quick drive to nearby cities of San Antonio, Boerne, and beyond. Recreational and natural areas abound, including the Fair Oaks Ranch Homeowners Association Parks & Trails, the Fair Oaks Ranch Golf & Country Club, Cibolo Nature Center, Guadalupe River State Park, and Honey Creek State Natural Area. The City of Fair Oaks Ranch seeks a strategic leader with knowledge of operational characteristics, services, and activities of a public finance program to serve as its next Director of Finance. They will have knowledge of organizational and management practices in order to evaluate programs, policies, and operational needs. The chosen candidate will be knowledgeable of advanced principles and practices of municipal budget preparation and administration.

The ideal candidate will have experience in financial reporting, auditing, investments, debt, payroll, accounts payable, fixed assets, cash management, accounts receivable, revenue accounting, utility billing, and procurement. They will be a big picture thinker who can strategically invest in infrastructure and development as well as deal with a small staff and work on the appropriate skillsets of each staff member. Knowledge of pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, ordinances, statutes, and regulations is important for the Finance Director, in addition to knowledge of principles and practices of governmental accounting and financial auditing. The ideal candidate will be familiar with program analyses and revenue forecasting. They will be able to analyze problems, provide alternatives, identify solutions in support of established goals, project consequences of proposed actions, and implement recommendations.

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in public finance, accounting, or a related field of study and a minimum of 10 years’ experience in public finance and accounting, including five years of administrative and supervisory responsibility, is required. A valid Certified Government Finance Officer Certificate or a Certified Public Accountant’s License is preferred. Additionally, a Texas Class C driver’s license is required or must be acquired within 30 days of hire date.

The City of Fair Oaks Ranch offers a competitive salary range of $109,376.65-$166,429.50 based on qualifications and experience.
