Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
- A minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in governmental accounting or public-sector finance
- Working knowledge of GAAP and GASB standards.
- Proficiency with financial management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to prepare accurate financial reports and communicate effectively with staff and stakeholders.
- CPA or CPFO designation preferred.
- Supervisory experience is preferred but not required.
Summary
This position assists the Finance Director in managing the City’s financial and accounting operations and oversees the daily operations of general accounting for the City, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and reliability of all financial data. Lead month-end and year-end close processes, maintain strong internal controls, and supervise a high-performing accounting team. Ensure compliance with GAAP, GASB, and Missouri city finance requirements, coordinate external audits, and provide financial guidance to support city operations and strategic decision-making. Drive the effective use of accounting systems and fostering an environment of continuous improvement to enhance efficiency and focus attention on analysis and exception management, implements established financial policies and procedures, ensures accurate financial records, and supports compliance with applicable laws and professional standards.
