The Assistant Finance Director plays a critical leadership role in managing the financial health and operations of the City of Cleburne. This position works in partnership with the Finance Director to oversee financial reporting, accounting, and compliance activities, ensuring the municipality operates efficiently, transparently, and within its financial means. The role requires strategic planning abilities, attention to detail, and the capacity to navigate the financial complexities of municipal governance. The Assistant Finance Director is responsible for the supervision, coordination, and control of the City’s general accounting function, with an emphasis on team building, leadership, internal controls, auditing, and the integrity of the City’s financial reporting. This position also leads the coordination with external auditors in preparing the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR), including all combining statements and Notes to the Financial Statements. The position requires knowledge of Texas state laws, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), financial analysis, reporting requirements set by the Texas State Comptroller, and the criteria for submitting to the GFOA Annual Financial Report Award Program.
