Job Description

California State Teachers’ Retirement System is looking for a seasoned leader for our next Director of Enterprise Risk Management & Compliance Services (CEA B).

The Director is responsible for aligning risk management and compliance with strategy-setting, while incorporating risk and compliance management and fraud prevention practices throughout the organization, identifying and scoring risks, as well as implementing associated education programs.

This role will function as a trusted advisor in day-to-day risk assessment and compliance, ultimately enabling more informed decision-making for CalSTRS staff, leaders, and Board. You will play a vital role in assisting the organization to achieve its mission of securing the financial future and sustaining the trust of California's educators.

The Director will:

  • Lead a diverse team and guide staff to their optimal potential
  • Think strategically and ensure critical timelines are met
  • Align risk management and compliance with strategy
  • Provide leadership in the implementation of a comprehensive, proactive risk awareness and compliance management programs
  • Have policy influence that is extensive and critically important to the enterprise mission of risk management and compliance
  • Serve as a policy advisor to the Chief Executive Officer, Executive Staff, the Teachers’ Retirement Board (TRB) and the Audits & Risk Management Committee
