The City of Louisburg, Kansas (pop. 4,508; $14M budget; 34 FTE’s), is located in northeast Miami County at the intersection of US Highway 69 and Kansas Highway 68, 20 minutes south of the Kansas City Metro area. A close-knit community that is close to everything is seeking a Finance Director to be a key financial strategist for the City who will continue to support a collaborative and transparent organizational culture, outstanding customer service, and on-going cost-effective municipal operations.
Under the supervision of the City Administrator, the Finance Director is an exempt position under FLSA which is responsible for maintaining the official accounting records of the city. This position performs a variety of complex technical accounting and finance functions in the maintaining of the fiscal records and systems of the city. Excellent communication, organizational, supervisory, and public relations skills are required.
Ideal candidates will have proven experience supervising personnel and managing government finance and/or city administration, an outgoing personality, exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, and a commitment to customer service excellence. This position requires a highly technical individual with the ability to problem solve and make independent decisions. With a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration or a closely related field; three (3) to five (5) years experience managing government financial operations; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. The annual salary range for the Finance Director is $68,000 - $90,000 DOQ. The City also offers a competitive benefits package.
