Kristin Trivelas, fiscal services director, has played a pivotal role in the City of Renton’s budgeting process and in enhancing public engagement through her emphasis on transparency and adaptability. She led the development of a community-friendly budget video and transitioned the city from a limited advisory committee to a citywide survey, significantly broadening public input. Her redesign of the capital improvement process—including a new prioritization matrix—earned the city special recognition in achieving GFOA's Distinguished Budget Presentation Award. Kristin is known for her ability to translate complex financial data into accessible formats, serving as a mentor to her team, and for building relationships across departments and jurisdictions. She is also active in the Puget Sound Finance Officers Association. “Kristin is widely respected, influential when action is needed, and is a source of courage and decisiveness,” noted Finance Administrator Kari Roller.
