Laura Allen Becomes GFOA President

Laura Allen, CPFO, ICMA-CM, Budget Analyst III, Capital Budgeting, Maryland Department of Budget and Management, became the 2023–2024 president of the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) during its 117th Annual Conference, May 21–24, 2023, in Portland, Oregon. She has been on GFOA’s Executive Board since 2019 and has served as the Association’s 2022–2023 president-elect.

“My focus this year is on our people,” said Allen. “Specifically, making sure GFOA members have the resources they need to effectively serve their communities, collaborating closely with our partners to help meet needs of our members, and supporting our talented and hardworking employees who make it all possible.”

She continued, “I see my term as President as an opportunity to give back to the organization that has helped me so much in my local government career.”
