“Roberto Manchia has played a pivotal part in strengthening San Mateo County's financial stability and enhancing public services, reflecting a deep commitment to both his profession and the community,” shared his colleague Krishna Ganapuram, analyst, at San Mateo County. Since joining the county in 1996, Roberto has served in leadership roles, from supporting employment-focused initiatives in the Vocational Rehabilitation Services Division to serving as CFO and now county budget director. Along the way, he redesigned business models, led revenue enhancement efforts, and supported major fiscal initiatives. He oversees the budget process, countywide forecasting, and debt issuance, and contributes to performance improvement initiatives. He also teaches finance and policy courses for statewide and regional programs and serves on workgroups and oversight committees to support accountability and knowledge-sharing across the public sector.
