GFOA's LGBTQIA+ Caucus exists to advocate for its members within the profession and works to increase the visibility of LGBTQIA+ people within GFOA and the profession as a whole. At this session, the Caucus will highlight key issues, discuss the previous year's activities, and conduct our annual business meeting.

Attendees will also hear from a DC-area government that applied for and received a perfect score on the Human Rights Campaign's Municipal Equality Index on the process and what it meant for their City. This session is open to all conference attendees.

  • Analyze a case study that illustrates the benefits of an LGBTQIA+-affirming local government

  • Identify steps that local governments can take to support their LGBTQIA+ employees and residents

  • Understand how the Municipal Equality Index could apply to your local government
