Sunday Keynote: Judy Smith
GFOA is pleased to announce Judy Smith as the keynote speaker for the General Session on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at GFOA's 119th Annual Conference.
Judy Smith is the founder and CEO of Smith & Company, a leading strategic advisory firm focused on crisis management. For more than 25 years, Judy has counseled presidents, world leaders, and other politicians, advised Fortune 50 CEOs through complex challenges, and helped manage the reputations of some of the world’s highest-profile individuals. She has applied a unique combination of communication skills, media savvy, legal and political acumen for clients facing a wide array of issues and challenges throughout the United States and abroad. Judy has also been featured in numerous national publications including the Washington Post, National Journal, the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Fortune, and Fast Company and has appeared on CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, NBC, ABC, and CBS. As a result of her wide ranging and ground-breaking career, Judy inspired the hit TV series, Scandal and served as co- executive producer of the project.
Judy will participate in a moderated discussion focusing on issues of importance to state and local government and how finance leaders can learn from past experience, apply strategies to better shape public opinion, navigate difficult political scenarios, lead through emergencies, and guide their organizations to thrive in an era of perpetual crisis.
