YPN Spotlight: Evan Zacharia
Evan Zacharia is investment finance coordinator for Broward County, Florida’s Finance and Administrative Services Department.
How did you get into public finance, and what led you to the Young Professionals Network (YPN)?
I entered the public finance sector through the guidance of my mentor, the CFO of Broward County. Originating from an accounting firm, I was curious about what the finance world had to offer, specifically within government. It is rewarding to know that I am using my talents to assist my community. I became interested in YPN because I wanted to network and grow my connections with like-minded individuals who can learn from each other.
What role do you think YPN plays in shaping the future of public finance leadership?
I believe YPN can have a massive impact on public finance leadership by providing opportunities to professionals who are much earlier in their career who desire to help their communities while also learning from those who have worked in these roles before.
How does YPN help with mentorship and development for its members?
YPN is beginning to develop a mentorship program for its members who are interested in learning from professionals that have an abundance of knowledge of the public finance sector and are eager to share their experience. I think this will be a great opportunity for those just starting their careers in government to truly gain a sense of the impact they can have in their communities and what it is like to give back.
