Job Description
JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
Responsible for monitoring the financial accounting activity of assigned funds. Provides accounting guidance and support assists agencies with reviewing and analyzing complex accounting transactions. Processes accounting transactions into the county's automated financial system. Researches accounting issues and recommends methods of redesign or streamlining of processes based on findings. Prepares and analyzes financial statements and reports in conformance with generally accepted accounting principles, and governmental accounting and financial reporting standards. Assists in the preparation of the county's Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR), Single Audit, and other mandated reports. Prepares schedules in support of the external financial audit.
Note: Salary offer will not exceed the mid-point of the salary range $91,699.71.
ILLUSTATIVE DUTIES

- Performs highly technical analyses of county financial operations;
- Participates in development and implementation of county-wide policies and procedures pertaining to accounting and financial reporting;
- Researches accounting issues and new accounting pronouncements and recommends solutions and means of implementation;
- Prepares financial statements and reports required by federal and state, including the county's annual comprehensive financial report (ACFR);
- Serves as a consultant to departments on accounting and financial reporting matters;
- Provides assistance to outside auditors by preparing work papers and financial reports as required;
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to the following:

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in accounting; or a bachelor's degree in business administration or related field that has been supplemented by at least 18 credit hours of intermediate level accounting or higher; plus two years of professional accounting experience, including one year of experience working with automated accounting systems. CPA certification, or a master's degree in an appropriate field, may be substituted for one year of required experience.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check and credit check to the satisfaction of the employer.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least two years of experience with governmental or fund accounting, federal and/or state grants, and ERP financial systems.
- Experience applying GAAP, analyzing and interpreting financial and accounting data, and preparing financial statements and reports.
- At least two years of experience with the Single Audit of federal grants under the Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200) and grants oversight and compliance.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Innovative individual motivated by continual change.
- Excellent skills with MS Office (Word and Excel).
- CPA or other professional certification.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Job is generally sedentary in nature. However visual acuity is required to read data on computer monitor. Incumbent must be able to operate keyboard driven equipment. Incumbent must be able to carry items up to 15 lbs. (all duties). All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
