Job Description
This is the third of six levels in the accounting series. Incumbents perform professional accounting tasks requiring comprehensive knowledge of GAAP and governmental accounting standards. Responsibilities may include preparing and/or reviewing formal financial and statistical statements and reports; interpreting and researching GAAP and GASB accounting standards; implementing changes to accounting methods to ensure consistency with organizational policies and procedures; preparing for and coordinating audits; forecasting, preparing, updating, and monitoring department budgets; forecasting revenues and expenditures; and performing the duties of the lower levels. Incumbents supervise lower-level accounting and/or accounting support staff.
