Minimum Qualifications

  • Nine (9) years of progressive experience serving as a strategic technical advisor in accounting and financial reporting operations for a large government and/or corporate entity.
  • Experience developing and executing financial reporting and assisting in the preparati.on of comprehensive financial statements
  • Must have experience implementing GASB standards.
  • Must have experience implementing accounting and financial principles, policies, and procedures while demonstrating expert knowledge of GAAP, GASB, FASB, and applicable auditing laws, regulations, and standards.
  • Experience creating an Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR)

Summary

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

The position is located in the Office of the Chief Financial Officer, Office of Financial Operations and Systems. The incumbent directs the technical accounting and financial reporting operations of OFOS and provides direction to subordinate staff and stakeholders concerning other matters, as delegated by the Deputy CFO and Controller. Duties include, but are not limited to: extracting, compiling, and analyzing financial information for annual reporting; reviewing comprehensive financial statements on the activities of the District's agencies; planning, developing, and implementing District-wide accounting policies and procedures; working with internal District Government auditors and external auditors in providing information on the systems and processes under review; providing advice to senior managers concerning the proper application of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) for financial transactions; and providing technical guidance and assistance to subordinate staff. Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

At least three (3) years of experience leading and managing staff at various levels. Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is required.

In addition - Applicant must have a bachelor's degree earned at an accredited US institution in accounting or related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. This can include up to six (6) hours of business law. Applicants must submit an official transcript that verifies a bachelor's degree in accounting or related field and 24 semester credit hours in accounting in order to be considered. If applicable, your application package must include a foreign credential course by course evaluation of all foreign transcripts. Acceptable foreign credential equivalency reports must be provided by organizations that have current membership with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) or the Association of International Credential Evaluators (AICE).
