Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or Finance with concentration in Accounting
  • CPA or CPFO or ability to obtain within one year
  • Minimum of 6 years progressively responsible experience with emphasis in government Finance and Budgeting
  • Minimum of 4 years management experience
  • Familiar with Enterprise Resource Planning Software

Preferences

  • Master's Degree in related field

Summary

This position is a member of the Executive Team and responsible for the long-range financial and budget planning of the City of Helena. The work performed by this position involves administration of financial affairs of the city government in accordance with the law. The position shall have oversight and control in all matters pertaining to the interpretation and implementation of generally accepted accounting principles, issuance of debt, and the financial recording and reporting of the city, its boards, agencies, departments, and funds including general, proprietary, fiduciary and other government funds.

Expectations & schedule

Normal work week is Monday - Friday. Commission meetings are weekly and held in the in evening with the expectation that the Finance Director attend most meetings.

Work Arrangement

Fully in-office

Will not consider remote workers living in a different region.

This position may occasionally be asked to act as the City Manager during any extended absences.
