3rd Annual MiniMuni Conference

GFOA’s 3rd Annual MiniMuni Conference kicked off with remarks by MSRB on the future of the municipal market, providing perspective on Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance (ESG). This was followed by two panels continuing the discussion on ESG, including GFOA’s new best practices on ESG, the issuer-investor relationship, and disclosures. The day closed with an appearance by SEC Commissioner, Hester Peirce, who participated in a Q&A on hot topics concerning the market.

The second day of the event zoned in on the $1 trillion bipartisan infrastructure deal, with ASCE providing insight on the future of infrastructure and remarks by members of Congress. GFOA’s Federal Liaison Center presented an update on the current political climate and potential outcomes to follow regarding the bill, after which two panels focused on the outlook of the market and potential solutions to current challenges facing issuers. The final day of the conference began with an update from the IRS’s Bond Branch, followed by critical information conveyed by the credit rating agencies panel. The conference closed with a peer discussion among issuers on hot topics, recommendations, and additional observations.

GFOA sincerely thanks all speakers who participated in this year’s MiniMuni Conference and aided to its success, as well as the sponsors, whose generous contributions allowed this year’s event to be free for members. We hope to see you again next year!
