The City of Everett which is located about 25 miles north of Seattle is the county seat of Snohomish County. The county is situated between the Cascade Mountain Range and Puget Sound with a wide diversity of wilderness areas and areas of dense population. The Controller/Comptroller currently has fifteen direct reports and eight indirect reports. The position oversees a dedicated team of finance professionals who are responsible for Accounts Payable, Payroll and General Ledger/CAFR. The Controller/Comptroller often collaborates with other County leaders and departments to further the goals and needs of county finances, while ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations and Snohomish County policies. The Controller along with the Budget Manager, Risk Manager and the Purchasing Manager report to the Finance Director to provide comprehensive financial services to the County.

For this important role the Finance Department seeks an experienced, unifying leader who is deeply committed to the success of the Department and is a creative thinker. The ideal candidate must have the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with a diverse group of stakeholders, possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, be comfortable working directly with other supervisors on a wide range of finance topics, be self-motivated and accountable, and excel in a mostly autonomous role within a flexible environment. Also vital to the success of this role is the ability to establish and maintain strong partnerships with elected officials, staff, labor unions, regulatory bodies, and other governmental agencies.
