Senior Accountant

The City of Ventura is seeking an experienced accounting professional to join our Finance team as a Senior Accountant. This role supports complex accounting functions, financial reporting, audit compliance, and oversight of key financial operations within municipal finance.

Key responsibilities include preparing and supporting the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR), overseeing general ledger functions, managing audit processes including Single Audit and TDA audits, ensuring compliance with GAAP, GASB, and governmental accounting standards, and providing oversight of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, treasury, grants, and fixed assets. The position also leads financial analysis, supports process improvements, and provides guidance to accounting staff.

The ideal candidate has strong government auditing and general ledger experience, preferably in the public sector, along with experience working with external auditors and ERP systems such as Workday Financials.
