Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a directly related field from a college or university accredited by an agency recognized by the US Department of Education.

Summary

The Role

The Senior Financial Analyst (County Accountant) performs advanced accounting work and provides technical and professional leadership within the department. You’ll play a key role in ensuring the County’s financial integrity through expert oversight, regulatory compliance, and innovation in financial systems. This position supports the County’s financial reporting and accounting systems, including the development, implementation, and maintenance of an integrated financial management and reporting system. You’ll serve as a senior professional resource, mentor team members, and help analyze and implement new policies and regulations.

As the Senior Financial, you will:

- Lead and perform advanced professional accounting activities across assigned financial functions.
- Oversee and coordinate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and internal controls.
- Contribute to and/or lead the preparation of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR).
- Analyze and interpret the impact of policy and regulatory changes affecting County operations.
- Provide guidance and support to professional and technical accounting staff.
- Participate in system improvements for the County’s integrated financial management system.
- Collaborate with auditors, departments, and outside agencies to ensure accuracy and transparency in reporting.
