About the Position

This position is the staff accountant for the CDOT Enterprise Funds. This position will assist the Enterprise Controller with monthly journal entries, accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, recording of complex transactions, and year-end close activities. Additionally, this position will perform monthly, annual, and ad hoc reporting. This position will review transactions and ensure that they comply with GAAP, GASB, and all State and Federal rules and regulations.

Your duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Complete transfers for debt service payments, toll revenue, and other transfers as needed.
  • Record monthly, semi-annual, and annual transactions that relate to enterprise debt. Complete reporting requirements of debt, continuing disclosure documents, and EMMA (Electronic Municipal Market Access) requirements.
  • Process and or enter Enterprise Fund invoices, evaluating if purchases are within fiscal rules, tolling corridor restrictions, etc. and are entered properly in SAP.
  • Complete monthly journal entries and calculate the supporting documentation for interest earned on tolls or debt and allocations of monthly expenses between funds and cost centers.
  • Review monthly sales tax returns, provide first-level approval of payments to jurisdictions, and complete corresponding entries in SAP and or CORE.
  • Complete trial balance reconciliations between CORE and SAP to ensure both accounting systems are in balance. If variances occur, research variances and complete correcting entries in SAP and or CORE. Perform account reconciliations and research and correct variances.
  • Assist the Enterprise Controller with monthly reporting such as budget actual reports and ad hoc requests from CDOT/Enterprise management.
  • Complete year-end journal entries for the enterprises and assist Enterprise Controller with audit work papers and drafting to exhibit documents.
  • Perform back up duties for Enterprise Controller and assist with documenting new processes.
  • Other job duties as assigned.
