Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field from an accredited university
  • Ten (10) years progressively responsible experience in municipal finance, city management, or a closely related field
  • Five (5) of the ten years of experience must be supervising or managing a significant finance-related function and team.
  • Extensive knowledge of the principles and practices of Governmental Accounting and Reporting (GAAP and GASB)
  • Experience in organizations with complex financial operations
  • Experience with highly functional ERP systems, and a dedication and passion for public service

Preferences

  • Master’s degree and/or CPA is preferred.
  • A Certified Government Finance Officer (CGFO) or Certified Public Finance Official (CPFO) designation is a plus.

Summary

The City is seeking a visionary, forward-thinking leader to serve as its next Director of Finance. The Director serves as a strategic partner to City executive leadership and City Council, shaping financial policy, ensuring fiscal transparency, guiding long-term fiscal strategy, and ensuring the City’s continued financial strength and resilience. The Director will lead the City’s financial operations team, which includes accounting, purchasing, payroll, accounts payable, utility billing, investments, and municipal debt programs. The Finance Department has 24.5 full-time employees and an operating budget of $4.7 million.
