Summary

The Finance Director oversees and strategically manages all financial operations of the La Pine Rural Fire Protection District, including human resources functions related to the financial aspects of personnel services. This role ensures fiscal integrity, transparency, and compliance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations governing Oregon special districts. The Finance Director provides leadership while actively supporting budgeting, accounting, financial reporting, audit coordination, and long-term financial planning to advance the District’s mission of delivering high-quality fire protection and emergency services to the community.
In addition to the extensive accounting knowledge and practice needed, on a daily basis there is hands on bookkeeping in Caselle, monthly banking reconciliations, property tax receiving, preparation for budget and audits, monthly board reports, responding to many fiscal and HR requests, and supervising administrative assistant.

Expectations & schedule

Four 10 hour days (Monday through Thursday, 7am to 5pm) or five 8 hour days (Monday through Friday). Very limited evening or weekend work.

Work Arrangement

Fully in-office

Will not consider remote workers living in a different region.

Significant challenges facing the organization

The district faced some unexpected challenges 18 months ago with bookkeeping records that were inaccurate and not up-to-date. Both a previous employee and a CPA have been brought in to correct the situation, and have made great strides, but we now need a permanent new addition with exceptional abilities and understanding to help ensure our fiscal health in the future.

We are switching from Quickbooks to Caselle on July 1st.
