CPFO Spotlight

Erica Broome

Erica Broome, CPFO, revenue planning manager for the City of Rock Hill, South Carolina, pursued the CPFO certification to strengthen her academic foundation and leadership credibility in public finance after transitioning from the private sector. She saw it as an opportunity to deepen her understanding of how government finance operates within a framework of transparency, equity, and public trust. Through the process, she gained a holistic view of how budgeting, debt management, and policy all serve the greater goal of public accountability, while also learning the value of patience, collaboration, and context in public service. Earning the CPFO has given Erica greater confidence to contribute strategically, connect technical analysis to long-term community outcomes, and inspire others, especially those new to government, to pursue meaningful careers in public finance.
