The City of Webster’s Finance Department is now accepting applications for the Accounting Manager position. The purpose of this position is to ensure the financial sustainability of the City. This is accomplished by overseeing, teaching and reviewing work of accounting functions in the Finance Department. Other responsibilities include serving as one of the City’s Investment Officers, initiating banking and investment transactions, administering payroll, overseeing cash management and investments, preparing internal and external reports, assisting in the annual budget process and facilitating the annual audit. This position provides direction to other employees and divisions, and interfaces with City employees and citizens.
Minimum Qualifications: •A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance •Three to five years of relevant experience required, including management and supervisory responsibilities. •Must be able to obtain a Surety Bond. (Please note: A prior bankruptcy may prevent an individual from being eligible to obtain a bond.)
Special Requirements: Work requires supervising and monitoring performance for a regular group of employees or a work unit, including providing input on hiring/disciplinary actions and work objectives/effectiveness, performance evaluations, and realigning work as needed. This is an Essential Services position and the employee will be required to provide services in the course and scope of employment for the benefit of the general public during emergency situations that threaten the safety of Webster’s citizens.
