Apply for GFOA Budget Award Advisory Committee

GFOA is recruiting volunteers to apply for and serve on the initial GFOA Budget Award Advisory Committee. The committee will play a pivotal role in helping GFOA update its Distinguished Budget Presentation Award to incorporate recent recommendations from the "Rethinking Budgeting" Project.

Expectations for Participation

How many people will be selected for the committee?

GFOA expects to select approximately 10-15 individuals to serve on the initial Budget Award Advisory Committee. It is expected that individuals will be representative of current GFOA members and budget awards participants.

What are the time commitments for participanting?

GFOA expects the advisory committee to meet at least monthly for approximately nine months with expected revisions to be complete by the 2025 annual conference. GFOA expects to host 2-3 in person meetings (1.5 days each) in Chicago. All other meetings will be remote.

Will GFOA reimburse participants for travel expenses?

Yes.

Does my organization need to win the current budget award to particpate?

No

When will the committee first meet?

GFOA expects the first remote meeting to take place in September 2024. The first in person meeting in Chicago is planned for November 2024. Specific dates will be determined based on availability of the committee.
