Approximately $46 Billion Now Available for Three Different Broadband Programs under IIJA

On May 13, the National Telecommunication and Information Administration (NTIA) released three Notices of Funding Opportunities (NOFOs) for the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment Program (BEAD); the Digital Equity Act Programs; and the Enabling Middle Mile Grant Broadband Infrastructure Program. These are new programs created under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) with the overarching goal of achieving digital equity and inclusion. Applications for the programs have varying due dates, and those interested in applying are encouraged to review program information via the links above.   • Funding in the BEAD program is primarily open to states for building broadband infrastructure where it is needed the most and to increase the adoption of high-speed internet. Click HERE for the NOFO – applications are due at 11:59 PM EDT on July 18, 2022.
  • Funding in the Middle Mile Grant Program is open to a broad list of eligible applicants to expand middle mile infrastructure, which in turn helps to reduce the cost of connecting unserved and underserved areas.   • The Digital Equity Act Programs are essentially three programs that provide funding to promote digital inclusion and advance equity for all, with a particular focus of ensuring all communities can access and use affordable, reliable, high-speed internet to meet their needs and improve their lives.
