Aleena Oberthur
Project Director, Public Sector Retirement Systems, The Pew Charitable Trusts
Aleena Oberthur leads research for the public sector retirement systems project, where she directs work to identify best practices for state pensions and other retiree benefits as well as 50-state research on a range of topics related to state pension and retiree funding, retirement security, plan design, and investment and governance policies.
In addition to her more than 10 years’ experience on the public sector retirement systems project, Oberthur worked for Pew’s Election Initiatives project, supporting the development of the Election Performance Index, and at a series of nonprofits, including NARAL Pro-Choice California.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in women and gender studies from Macalester College and a master’s in public policy from Duke University.
