Kevin Wachtel has over 20 years of experience in local government management and finance administration. Mr. Wachtel has been serving as Finance Director for the Village of Orland Park since 2020. Prior to working in Orland Park, Mr. Wachtel served as Finance Director and Treasurer for the Villages of Villa Park, Riverside and other communities in the Chicago suburbs. Mr. Wachtel earned a B.S. in Political Science in 1998 and Master of Public Administration degree in 2000 from Northern Illinois University. Mr. Wachtel has been recognized by the GFOA as a Certified Public Finance Officer. He has served GFOA as a budget reviewer has presented and moderated at previous GFOA conferences. Mr. Wachtel has been active in the Illinois Government Finance Officers’ Association and served on the Executive Board from 2015 to 2022, including President of the Executive Board in 2020-2021. He previously served on the IGFOA South Metro Chapter board from 2005 – 2009.
