Diane Waldron

Diane has served as the Comptroller for the City of Bristol, CT since June 2017 and has a total of 35 years of experience as a municipal finance official working for four other Connecticut municipalities. She has extensive experience in pension and benefits and has implemented a number of plan design changes and cost saving initiatives in both areas. She has received the GFOA Awards for Financial Reporting and Budget, and is instrumental in the annual budget process, capital and debt financing and policy development in a number of areas.

Diane has her Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Fairfield University and is a Certified Public Accountant. Prior to her government experience she worked for Deloitte and Touche. She has also attended the GFOA Advanced Government Finance Institute at the University of Wisconsin.

Diane currently serves on the GFOA Executive Board. She has served on the Committee on Retirement and Benefits Administration for six years and as Chair for 2022-2023.  She was President-Elect of the GFOA Women’s Public Finance Network and is a past president for the Connecticut Government Finance Officers’ Association and the New England Government Finance Officers’ Association and continues to serve on both boards. She is a Governor appointee to the State of Connecticut Municipal Finance Advisory Commission that oversees municipalities in fiscal distress.
