Diane Waldron
Comptroller, City of Bristol, Connecticut

Diane has served in a Director of Finance/Comptroller role for local government entities in Connecticut for over 35 years. She has been with the City of Bristol, CT since June 2017 and prior to that worked in the same capacity for four other municipalities. She has extensive experience in pension and benefits, implementing a number of plan design changes to achieve significant cost savings in both areas. In addition, she is intricately involved and responsible for budgeting, capital planning and debt management and has been a regular issuer of general obligation bonds over the course of her career.
Diane has her Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Fairfield University and is a Certified Public Accountant. Prior to her government experience she was an auditor with Deloitte. She also attended the GFOA Advanced Government Finance Institute at the University of Wisconsin.
Diane currently serves on the GFOA Executive Board, served on the Committee on Retirement and Benefits Administration for six years and was Chair of that committee for 2022-2023. She was President-Elect of the GFOA Women’s Public Finance Network and is a past president for the Connecticut Government Finance Officers’ Association and the New England Government Finance Officers’ Association. She is a Governor appointee to the State of Connecticut Municipal Finance Advisory Commission that oversees municipalities in fiscal distress.
