City CFOs Send Letter to Senate Leaders
On February 9, public finance officers from major cities across the country submitted a letter to senate leaders. Signed by thirty municipal fiduciaries, the letter requests “maximum flexibility” for the use of federal relief aid, including covering revenue shortfalls due to the economic impacts of COVID-19.
The letter offers several recommendations for strengthening municipal finances, including the restoration of advance refunding bonds and providing greater access to long-term markets for local governments.
