GFOA Standing Committee Application Process
Strong leadership in today’s evolving landscape is essential, and GFOA members have a valuable opportunity to help shape the future of public finance by serving on a standing committee. GFOA’s six standing committees meet twice a year and play a key role in developing best practices, advisories, and policy statements that guide the profession. Members from the private sector are also welcome to apply as committee advisors. It’s a meaningful way to share your insights and make an impact.
The GFOA’s seven standing committees are - Accounting, Auditing and Financial Reporting; Economic Development and Capital Planning; Governmental Budgeting and Fiscal Policy; Governmental Debt Management; Retirement and Benefits Administration; and Treasury and Investment Management.
Committee members are expected to attend two meetings per year in-person and when necessary, additional remote meetings. In-person meetings are scheduled for Washington D.C. in the winter and the site of the Annual Conference in the summer.
Please note that GFOA does not provide for the reimbursement of expenses incurred in connection with committee activities. Please review the Standing Committees Policies and Procedures for other committee guidelines.
