South Dakota Retirement System (SDRS)

Doug Fiddler joined the South Dakota Retirement System (SDRS) as a Senior Actuary in 2014. Prior to that, he worked as a consulting actuary for more than 25 years at several consulting firms.

Mr. Fiddler currently serves as the internal actuary for SDRS. As such, he prepares annual valuations, cost studies, experience studies and fiscal impact statements. In addition, he works with System staff, the Board of Trustees and outside consultants on various administration and plan design issues.

In his prior role, he consulted with numerous state and local pension plans as well as private sector pension sponsors. In addition to his current role with SDRS, Mr. Fiddler is a member of the GFOA’s Committee on Retirement and Benefit Administration and is a member of the Society of Actuaries Social Insurance and Public Finance Section Council.

Mr. Fiddler has a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Wheaton College. He is a Fellow of the Conference of Consulting Actuaries, an Associate of the Society of Actuaries, a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries and an ERISA enrolled Actuary.
