Job Description: 

Performs senior-level and experienced professional work in the Finance and Administrative Services department. Responsible for the design, implementation, and annual review of financial information prepared by staff and finance professionals. Work is performed under direction with considerable latitude. Position relies on advanced level experience and exercises independent judgment to determine best approach by using and interpreting policies and procedures. Position seeks technical guidance only on unusual or complex problems or issues.

The ideal candidate must be able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and ever-evolving work environment and should possess the following:

•Experience managing and maintaining the integrity and effective operation of all accounting and general ledger related functions and associated information technology systems •Experience reviewing, summarizing, and implementing any new Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) pronouncements •Experience coordinating the external audit for a governmental or not-for-profit agency, including preparing audit schedules, updating notes to the financial statements, and working closely with the external auditors to ensure the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) is issued timely •Experience evaluating, implementing, and monitoring proper internal controls •Strong working knowledge of computer systems, including the ability to learn and effectively manage the back-end processing of various computer systems (general ledger and sub-ledgers) •Ability to work with tight deadlines with attention to details and a high level of accuracy Ability to think independently to resolve issues, improve processes, or complete special projects through effective use of knowledge base, research, and professional judgement


Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related discipline; supplemented by five (5) or more years' experience in an accounting position, preferably with a governmental or non-profit agency or with an agency that provides governmental accounting services; an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience may be considered.
