The Maine Municipal Association is currently accepting resumes for the position of Controller. This is a management position responsible for oversight of the internal financial operations at the Maine Municipal Association. The Controller’s primary responsibilities are the maintenance of MMA’s automated financial systems, oversight of subsidiary ledger transactions, and the preparation of financial reports for MMA and all of the self-funded programs including Maine Municipal Employees Health Trust, Workers Compensation Trust, and Property and Casualty Risk Pool. This position has direct supervisory responsibility for members of the Finance Department and reports to the Chief Financial Officer.
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in accounting supplemented by five years of experience with supervision of subordinate employees. A strong background in accounting and basic knowledge of cash management and investment management is required. In particular, experience in the financial management of employee benefit and property/casualty insurance programs is desirable. A Master’s degree in a business related field is desirable.
