Job Description: 

The Town of Surfside is seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Financial Reporting and Accounting Manager. The preferred candidate must be motivated, experienced, and have outstanding communication skills. Responsible for specialized accounting and finance work maintaining the general ledger and other accounting functions including reviewing journal entries, bank reconciliations, reporting, and accounts payable. Work is performed under the supervision of the Finance Director.

The preferred candidate must possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or closely related field. A minimum of seven (7) years of accounting or finance experience preferably within a municipal government and be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Governmental Finance Officer (CGF0) and/or a Certified Public Finance Officer (CPFO) is required. Knowledge of Tyler Incode Financial Management System is desirable.

The preferred candidate must be able to:

Maintain General Ledger including review and posting of Journal Entries. Primary supervision over all bank reconciliations. Oversee preparation of all accounting workpapers. Oversee preparation of the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR). Review and recommend issuance of purchase orders including ensuring compliance with Town Code and policies. Assist and act as liaison to external auditor in performing audit functions. Manage external reporting including fiscal year end and ensuring website is up to date. Review and approve invoices for payments including budgetary and procurement compliance. Serve as backup manager for payroll processing. Assist with Risk Management (FMIT) related matters. Assist with periodic audits of capital assets, non-capitalized tangible capital-type items, etc. Assist with Third Party Administrator functions for pension. Assist with preparation of Finance Manual. Perform other duties as assigned.

Open until filled. Salary range: $78,882 – $118,323 DOQ/E. Excellent benefits.
