Lunda Asmani has been a GFOA member for over 20 years. He served on the GFOA Executive Board from 2021 to 2024, participated as a GFOA standing committee member, and was a GFOA budget reviewer. Additionally, he is an active member and past president of the GFOA Black Caucus. Asmani oversees a $400 million operating and capital budget for Norwalk Public Schools.

Most recently, he led the reorganization and merger of the Finance and Human Resources departments, enhancing operational efficiency. He upgraded the financial management system for improved functionality, initiated the school district’s participation in GFOA’s Alliance for Smarter School Spending, prepared the inaugural budget book, and redesigned the annual budget public engagement process.

Asmani is involved in the following professional associations: Connecticut GFOA, ICMA, The Forum for Education Leadership, and the National Forum for Black Public Administrators. He aims to advocate for DEI initiatives that foster engagement and promote inclusivity and is passionate about encouraging young professionals to join the public financial management sector.

Lunda has held chief financial officer and senior municipal finance roles in counties, cities, and school governments in Kansas and Connecticut. He serves as a public speaker and is also an active community volunteer who lends his skills and talents to multiple community non-profits.
