GFOA's 109th Annual Conference:
Innovation and Resilience

(Chicago, Illinois - December 9, 2014) The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) will host its 109th annual conference, “Innovation and Resilience,” on May 31-June 3, 2015, at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The conference is expected to bring together thousands of public finance professionals through:

  • concurrent sessions from Sunday through Wednesday
  • welcome reception on Sunday night
  • general sessions on Monday and Tuesday mornings
  • closing event on Tuesday night
  • discussion groups held throughout the conference.

Sessions will examine a wide variety of topics, such as accounting, auditing, and financial reporting; budgeting; capital planning and economic development; debt management; financial management; pension and benefit administration; and treasury and investment management.

Public-sector practitioners can take advantage of participating in half-day preconference seminars on the Friday and/or Saturday before the start of the conference. Following are this year’s topics:

  • Best Practice Trends in Public-Sector Procurement
  • Evolution of Financial Transparency
  • Infrastructure Finance
  • Security in an IT Environment
  • Strategic Planning

The GFOA strives to provide leadership to the government finance profession through education, research, and best practices. Nowhere are these efforts more apparent than at the GFOA annual conference. To keep with the commitment, the GFOA Executive Board is pleased to announce that 50 scholarships will be awarded per state or province in the amount of the full-conference registration fee to first-time conference attendees who are GFOA active government members. Offering up to 21 CPE credits, with additional credit available for preconference sessions, the annual conference is one of the most broad-ranging educational opportunities in the public finance field.
