GFOA is partnering with the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) to develop published resource materials and an educational curriculum intended to help overall financial literacy for existing and emerging fire and emergency service leaders and develop approaches that allow for better budgeting and finance practices that meet the needs of the fire service. Task Force members will represent members from both GFOA and IAFC and discuss current challenges, opportunities for improvement, and recommendations for improving collaboration between the finance office and the fire department. We expect to discuss budgeting, financial reporting, procurement, risk management, and how to best work within standard local government processes. GFOA is currently looking for volunteers to participate in the task force.
