Job Description

The City of South Lake Tahoe is seeking applications for the Accountant I position assigned to the Payroll area in the City Finance Department. The payroll accountant will perform all aspects of payroll, including implementation, review and maintenance of payroll processing and accounting systems and records to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions; accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates; ensuring compliance with federal, state and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices; facilitation of audits by providing records and documentation to auditors; recommending updates to payroll accounting software, systems, and procedures; preparation of position budgeting and performing other payroll related duties as assigned.
