Job Description

Illinois Housing Development Authority (IHDA), one of the Nation’s preeminent Housing Finance Agencies and one of the State’s ten largest financial institutions, is currently seeking an Assistant Controller to build upon our 50+ year leadership in housing finance.

Summary:

Illinois Housing Development Authority (IHDA), one of the Nation’s preeminent Housing Finance Agencies and one of the State’s ten largest financial institutions, is currently seeking an Assistant Controller to build upon their 50+-year leadership in housing finance. IHDA has financed 250,000+ units of affordable housing for both multifamily developments and single-family homeownership opportunities, in every county of the State.

Responsibilities:

With direction from the Controller, the Assistant Controller will manage the individuals who oversee all accounting operations and functions of the Authority, to include the general ledger and accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and audit, compliance, and reporting functions. The Assistant Controller will ensure the implementation and/or maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the Authority’s reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • CPA certification
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, MBA a plus.
  • Minimum of 8 years of work experience with progressive responsibility
  • Recent Public Accounting experience
  • Demonstrated managerial competence required
  • Strong written, presentation, and oral skills.
  • Extensive experience with JD Edwards accounting software or other large ERP systems.
