Job Description

The County of Humboldt has increased its operating budget from $350M to over $500M in the last 5 years, and needs a unique individual with not only fiscal expertise, but also the talent and interpersonal skills to help the county take the next step in its growth.

Key competency areas include:

  • Providing budgetary and fiscal leadership to the County
  • Coordinate, manage, oversee and implement fiscal policies and issues with County leadership
  • Coordinate and collaborate with the Auditor's Office (elected position)
  • Recommend financial, fiscal and administrative action to improve County operations.

We are seeking an individual with exceptional communication and analytical skills, particularly relating to complex budgetary and policy topics, and managing relationships with outside agencies, citizen groups, private organizations, and appointed and elected officials. It is desirable for the individual in this position to hold a Master's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field, as well as possession of an active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or equivalent.

The ideal candidate will have the experience necessary to work with an actively involved and diverse organization and community; demonstrated poise under pressure; skills and ability to collaborate with the Board, as well as internal and external stakeholders. You will need to embrace change and a collaborative work environment to explore innovative solutions to new and existing challenges.
