The City of Columbia is excited to announce an opening for Assistant Finance Director. This position reports to the Assistant City Manager/Finance Director, and interacts with elected officials, citizens and other staff members. The Assistant Finance Director provides key support to the Director and department personnel. This position will include tasks related to accounting, financial planning and analysis, general ledger oversight, financial reporting, controls over financial reporting, debt management, and investments.

The ideal candidate will meet the following education, experience and minimum qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a related field. A minimum of three years full-time professional employment in accounting, auditing, budgeting, or closely related financial activity. Other combinations of experience and education, which meet the minimum requirements, may be substituted. Licensed as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with experience working with Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB) principles is preferred but not required.
