Job Description

Budget Analyst I/II

The City of Sunnyvale is searching for a Budget Analyst I or II in the Department of Finance. The Budget Analyst will join a small team dedicated to developing and monitoring Sunnyvale's performance-based budget. The candidate selected for this position will be the first point of contact for departments fiscal inquiries and provide analytical support for recommendations made to the Office of the City Manager. The candidate must be detail-oriented, a strategic and dynamic thinker, and have excellent customer service and strong presentation skills. A candidate must be a savvy Excel user, that can generate process and operational efficiencies, maintain strong data integrity, and present big-picture analysis.

Minimum Qualifications

Budget Analyst I

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in economics, accounting, finance, business administration, public administration or a closely related field; and Three years of increasingly responsible management and/or administrative analytical work experience, including two years of experience related to budget management or financial analysis. A Master's degree in economics,accounting, finance, business administration, public administration or a closely related field from an accredited college or university may substitute for one year of management and/or administrative analytical work experience.

Budget Analyst II

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in economics, accounting, finance, business administration, public administration or a closely related field; and Five years of increasingly responsible management and/or administrative analytical work experience, including two years performing budget management or financial analysis in a public sector agency similar to the City of Sunnyvale. A Master's degree in economics, accounting, finance, business administration, public administration or a closely related field from an accredited college or university may substitute for one year of management and/or administrative analytical work experience for both the Budget Analyst I and Budget Analyst II levels.
